My stamp of approval.

imageLook what is coming in 2011!

The USPS site says:

"The Send a Hello stamps, which go on sale Aug. 19, are a natural outgrowth of the Art of Disney stamp series issued between 2004 and 2008. Originally intended as a series of three annual issuances depicting friendship, celebration, and romance, the Art of Disney stamps proved so popular that the Postal Service expanded the series to include issuances in 2007 and 2008 to celebrate imagination and magic.Based on that success, the Postal Service was eager to work with the Walt Disney Company again, choosing to explore the Disney*Pixar films, which offer exciting, contemporary characters and strong themes involving family and friends."

Merry Merry and Happy Happy to you!

image

I am starting to panic already. I will be leaving on the media christening cruise for the new Dream ship in less than 4 weeks from today! I need to pack, prepare all my techno gagets, study for interviews and most importantly…. find something to WEAR to all the fun!

Meanwhile have a wonderful holiday….and if you are lucky enough to get to spend some of your holiday at a Disney park? Well, then you are LUCKY ENOUGH.

Disneyland: front of the monorail

IMG_0465 copyDid you know all you had to do to ride in the front of the Disneyland monorail is ASK? Yup, just ask the cast member there, and you can ride up front. The experience up front is TOTALLY different. And actually kinda exciting. And before anyone picks on me for my photos that look all purple- it is from the purple tinted glass at the front of the cab.IMG_0451

We had a great time with our driver during the second part of the round trip. This is Cavan and his ‘first mate’ and he was quite the comedian. It is people like this that make the Disneyland experience awesome.

So I shot a short, quick video….try to ignore me mentioning how bumpy the ride is about THREE times. Um, but it was. Bumpy. That is. Well, here- see for yourself….

Disney California Adventure entrance letters to be removed…

IMG_0424 copy

Did you know the giant letters in front of California Adventure will be going away very soon? Shown here in my recent photo dressed up for the holidays…

They are being removed as part of the over all complete RE-do of the entrance and a very BIG part of the whole park. Once all the changes are complete including the new Cars Land the park is going to look very very different than it does now. So the letters are being removed, BUT SAVED to go up somewhere else nearby. The Great Park, Angeles Stadium and more have been suggested by the locals. Where ever they end up I will be sure to visit to get our fun ‘climb the O’ photo….

Disney California Adventure ElecTRONica review…

IMG_0566

IMG_0612I grew up attending a popular weekend dance club for kids called Studio K (located inside Knott’s Berry Farm. BTW an adorable Facebook fan page can be found here) Studio K played the best music of the time (80’s), The local kids who came just for the evening and the tourists who stumbled upon the ‘nightclub’ scene  in the middle of the amusement park danceimaged side by side. To say it left me with insanely good memories would be an understatement. So when I experienced ElecTRONica at Disney California Adventure over the weekend it all felt very very familiar. Many of the same songs, only they had been ‘funkified’ and were being spun live by a talented DJ.

Of course this is more than just a Disney Rave. There is a full recreation of Flynns Arcade (from Tron movie of course) right down to custom Flynn Arcade tokens. Which I may have kept a few extra cuz they are so awesome. And there are projection shows, movie clip previews, bars with Tron-ish drinks and more. I was pretty surprised to see some of these ladies in painted on costumes doing cage dancing at the dance club area. It was pretty dang sexy for Disney and I kinda loved it. I enjoy seeing Disney embrace their ‘inner adult’ at events like these.

The “ElecTRONica” festivities will take place Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights this fall and nightly during the Christmas vacation period  Friday, Dec. 17, through Sunday, Jan 2. “ElecTRONica” is expected to continue through mid-to-late April 2011. Don’t miss it.

Yes! Eat the apple! How to make Disney the healthiest place on earth…..

imageExcited to share this wonderful guest post by writer Jeff Roney about doing Disney…HEALTHY.

Disneyland (in Anaheim) can be a lot of fun, but if you are trying to focus on a fitness or weight loss goal, it can be tough, but not impossible. The first step is planning ahead. You may want to pack a few protein/fiber bars in a camera bag to conquer cravings in a good way. Otherwise, you will fall to the temptation of the Churro as it calls your  name.

As you arrive, you will notice that there are plenty of trams to get you to the park. If you are physically able (or don't have a family to herd along), you may want to forgo the trams and walk to the front of the park. We park in the Mickey and Friends Parking structure, and if you walk from the tram waiting area to the front of the Disneyland Park it is one half mile, so if you make the effort, you'll already have a mile walk in your day. Besides, waiting in a long line for a tram is no fun, right?
Once you enter that park, think of it as a fun gym. There are plenty of places to get in a fun workout, if you know where to look.  You may want to treat the two parks (Disneyland and California Adventure) as a fun track. Before you eat in a particular park, you may want to walk around the park once or twice. There is always something to see. Tarzan's Treehouse is a great, fun way to get in a step workout and follow the story of Tarzan. Since most people are in line for other rides, you will have very little trouble using this attraction for your health. If you are very daring, do it twice during your Disneyland visit. Many rides and attractions have stairs, so as you take the steps, take one step, then if you can take two to keep it random). Always keep a hand on the rail, don't go too fast and be careful. Innoventions has a sloped entry walkway which adds a bit of intensity to your walking, as well. Remember, drink lots of water at the park. Whether you bring it, buy it in the park or use the fountains, water is good for health and can help you stay full in between meals.

The three L’s ….

imagesbloggy

I love this cartoon so much.

I want a giant print of it to frame and hang in my house.

But that would require me leaving my house.

:)

So excited to say I will be attending the much coveted and hard to get into, Disney’s Social Media Conference in March 2011.

I am not bringing my family, but will be travelling with my Disney Sisters (The Three Disneyland Moms; Suzanne Broughton and Lisa Robertson).

I look forward to learning, laughing and lounging at the bar.
